An Alexandria man died Sunday inside the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center after being detained for almost two months and an investigation is underway.
Glenn W. Eubanks, 33, collapsed in the dayroom of a housing unit after having a “medical emergency," on June 4, around 4 p.m., Alexandria Police Department said.
Eubanks had been in custody since April 12, according to the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office.
Immediately after he collapsed, police said a deputy called the medical staff to try to save his life. Amidst the medical staff’s effort, the Alexandria Fire Department also responded to continue emergency treatment, but Eubanks was pronounced dead at 4:56 p.m.
The death of Eubanks isn’t the first at the Alexandria Detention Center.
Earlier this year, WTOP reported that the family of 62-year-old Christopher Lapp, a man who was found dead inside his cell in 2021, filed a wrongful death lawsuit, claiming officials made a series of errors that led to Lapp’s death. In May of 2022, 25-year-old Anthony Mouf was found dead in his cell after officials said he was suffering from a medical emergency.
Following Eubank’s death. Alexandria police said they will conduct an investigation. In their statement, the Alexandria Sheriff's Office said it “will conduct a review of the incident to ensure all policies and procedures were followed.”
