Stimulus check update: Here are five payments worth up to $1,000 scheduled to go out next month

.

June is only a few days away, and with it will come several payments that are expected to be paid out to recipients across the United States.

Most of these payments will be issued from guaranteed income programs, which give payments of a certain amount to recipients typically once a month. One of these payments, however, is set to be a tax rebate intended for taxpayers who have filed their taxes.

ARISE — Payment of $500

The Alexandria Recurring Income for Success and Equity, ARISE, will pay 170 residents in Alexandria, Virginia, $500 on June 1. The program is being funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, according to the program’s website.

The applicants for this program were randomly selected by Abt Associates, Alexandria’s research partner in the program, through a lottery selection. Abt Associates is conducting an evaluation of how this extra $500 per month will affect recipients’ financial stability and well-being.

New Mexico — Payments of either $500 or $1,000

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) announced in April that the state will send tax rebates to residents who filed a 2021 New Mexico Personal Income Tax return in mid-June. Single filers will get a rebate of $500, while married taxpayers filing jointly, heads of household, and surviving spouses will receive a rebate of $1,000, according to a statement from the governor.

“Prices for basic necessities continue to be high across the nation,” Lujan Grisham said. “Our state today is in a fantastic financial position, and it’s important to me that New Mexico’s families are sharing in that success.”

Minnesota — Payment of $500

The Minneapolis Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot began in June 2022 and is expected to pay recipients monthly cash payments through June 2024. Two-hundred households were selected to receive the $500 payments from this program, and they can all spend the money in whatever way suits them best, according to the city’s website.

The project manager for this guaranteed income program told the Washington Examiner that payments for this program are processed on the 20th of every month and all participants receive $500 every month.

California — Payment of $500

The Pathway to Income Equity pilot program will pay 305 families a payment of $500 on the third Wednesday of the month, which for June will be June 21. The program is part of an experiment to see how guaranteed income affects impoverished families.

“These payments will help families with young children who are often struggling under the double burden of the high costs of housing and child care — typically the two highest household expenses,” said Supervisor Chris Coursey, the chairman of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. “The information we gain from this pilot program will help shape future efforts to improve the health and welfare of our community.”

California — Payment of $800

Selected residents of Palm Springs, California, started receiving monthly payments of $800 on May 15. Thirty recipients were selected in March to receive money from this program, and they are free to spend this monthly payment in any way they see fit, according to Queer Works.

Recipients will also be required to participate in a study by Queer Works, which will involve surveys taken each month. The data from this program will be made available every six months, and the final report is expected in winter 2024.
