An 18-year-old Alexandria man was arrested Thursday, accused of killing a man whose body was found on Avoyelles Drive.

Brian Johnson, 18, already was in the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1, having been booked there on May 26 on charges of armed robbery and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was booked again on a charge of second-degree murder in the May 13 shooting death of Dontravius Williams, 19, according to a news release from the city.

Alexandria Police Department officers found Williams' body in the 500 block of Avoyelles Drive after they responded to shots being fired in the area.

Johnson also was charged with unlawful possession of a machine gun and a probation violation. He had pleaded guilty in February in the 9th Judicial District Court to aggravated assault with a firearm. A 10-year prison sentence was suspended, and he was sentenced to three years of supervised probation.

A probation revocation hearing has been set for June 12. He remains in jail with bail set at $1.37 million, according to online jail records.
