Isotopes host media day before 2023 season kicks off
The Albuquerque Isotopes are just one day away from the 2023 regular season opener.
On Thursday morning, the team hosted media day before traveling to Texas to face Round Rock on Friday night.
The team enters the 2023 season with a slew of new faces on both the roster and on the coaching staff. Pedro Lopez earned a promotion from bench coach in 2022 to manager for the upcoming season. He replaces Warren Schaeffer who was promoted by the Rockies organization.
"The organization did a good job in putting a good mix of young players and veteran players," said Lopez. "I'm looking forward to it, I think we've got some exciting ballplayers on this team, guys with a bright future and so hopefully this new adventure and experience will be the one that can actually put them in the big leagues and stay there."
The Isotopes open the 2023 season on the road Friday night facing the Round Rock Express.
The home-opener at The Lab is Tuesday, April 4 hosting Salt Lake.
