Jury convicts man on weapons charge in Albany

ALBANY, NY (WRGB) —
A jury has convicted a 47-year-old man on a weapons charge.

Alphonso Robinson was convicted of One Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
Police say on June 1st,2022, just before 8:00 PM, officers responded to Morton Avenue and Eagle Street after a tip from a concerned resident about a man armed with a handgun.
It was when officers approached a suspect who fit the description, police say the suspect ran on foot.
He was soon caught and later identified as Alphonso Robinson, according to police. Police say he was in possession of a loaded .38 caliber revolver.

Robinson faces 15 years in prison, however according to the Albany County DA's office, says he can be classified as a persistent felon and could face more time in prison.
