Albany law enforcement respond to shooting on Thursday, suspect recovering at hospital

ALBANY, Ga. – Albany law enforcement officers responded to 1600 block of Malone Drive in reference to a shooting on Thursday.

Investigation revealed the two men involved resided together and neighbors reported there had been ongoing issues between them.

Vomug Lewis

A physical altercation occurred when 22-year-old Jaime Lewis attacked 87-year-old Sam Williams by knocking him out of a chair onto the ground.

Williams grabbed his gun and shot lewis to prevent further harm to himself. He was transported to the law enforcement center.

Jamie Lewis had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the hands and legs and is currently recovering at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

He will be charged with Elderly Abuse and transported to the Dougherty County Jail once he is released from the hospital.
