ALAMOGORDO ― Three major highways are expected to be closed to motorists Thursday morning for up to two and a half hours by White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) Security Personnel as WSMR conducts a missile test.

One of the first highways being blocked off is Highway 380 that runs from San Antonio to Carrizozo, according to WSMR Public Affairs Office. The block off is scheduled for 7 a.m., March 23, followed by the second block at 8:20 a.m. Both closures should last about an hour. Roads will be opened briefly throughout the closures.

The second, Highway 70, stretches through Alamogordo and San Augustine Pass. Las Cruces Gate, Aguirre Springs, and Owen Road will also be closed along Highway 70 at this time.

Highway 54 within Orogrande and the McGregor Range, along with the railways, will also be blocked off by White Sands Missile Range Security Personnel.

According to the base, times are subject to change. Updates can be found on WSMR's Twitter account.
