The Alamogordo Police reported that on August 30, 2024, at approximately 1134 hours, the Alamogordo Police Department responded to a call at the Alamogordo High School regarding a student who was overheard stating he had a gun.

The investigation confirmed that the student did make such a statement; however, nofirearms or contraband were found.

The student is being referred to Juvenile Probation for Bomb Scares and Shooting Threats Unlawful.

The following information has been sent out to all staff and all APS families.

Please be aware that Alamogordo High School was in a temporary shelter-in-place this morning due to an unconfirmed report. After a thorough investigation in collaboration with local law enforcement, the report was found unsubstantiated.

Alamogordo Public Schools is committed to transparency and maintaining a safe environment for all students and staff. We will continue to work closely with law enforcement and take all necessary precautions in response to any situation that may arise.
