The owners of Alameda’s Little House Cafe — an eatery known for its gourmet breakfasts, lunches, and weekend brunches that shuttered back in December — are opening a new concept in the city: Moxie.

Taking over the former home of Angela’s Restaurant at 1640 Park Street, Moxie will soon neighbor establishments such as Crispian Bakery, the bar & grill McGee’s, and wine bar The Preacher’s Daughter.

Chef Donna Meadows tells What Now San Francisco that patrons can expect an a la carte menu offering items such as steaks, game hen, and rack of lamb — as well as sides like truffle cheese french fries, roasted new potatoes, Moroccan carrot salad, and green beans with lemon capers & almonds.

“We want everybody to be able to pick something that they like — nobody has to sacrifice,” she shares.

Meadows adds that a selection of international sauces like hollandaise and chimichurri will be on the menu, also served on the side, allowing guests to mix and match — enjoying classic French cuisine one night and Argentinian the next. Finally, to drink, patrons can expect a cocktail menu crafted by a well-known, yet-to-be-named Bay Area bartender.

Starting, Moxie will offer dinner from Wednesday through Sunday, with bar and outdoor seating available. Saturday and Sunday brunch — similar to what was served at Little House — may come later.

Moxie is slated to open around the first of September. Stay tuned for additional updates.
