Okito America, a family fitness and child care facility with two locations in Gainesville, is expanding to the city of Alachua this fall.

The company announced plans to open in August in San Felasco Tech City, 13900 Tech City Circle, and will primarily serve families in Alachua, High Springs, La Crosse, Lake Butler and north Gainesville, according to a news release.

Transportation will be provided from area schools and the new location will offer similar programming to those in Gainesville. Students can take part in a host of activities, including homework assistance, art, science, sports, basic Spanish skills, and martial arts instruction.

“We are very excited to have the support of the community,” says Orlando Millan, founder of Okito America, in the release. “Our expansion to the city of Alachua gives us the opportunity to impact the lives of families from the whole county, which is not a task we take lightly. We are putting in the effort and care that our students have come to expect from us and know that the future of Okito America is only just beginning.”

The 6,000-square-foot Tech City location also will include a state-of-the-art kitchen and will offer cooking classes for both children and adults.

"San Felasco Tech City is designed with entrepreneurs in mind, and we are thrilled to have Okito America as part of our community," said Mitch Glaeser, co-developer of the 82-acre mixed-use development. "Their commitment to helping children build confidence and achieve their goals through martial arts and other activities is a perfect fit for Tech City's live-work-play concept."

Okito America first opened in 2007 at 6900 SW Archer Road, and has seen more than 9,000 students graduate from its classes, according to the release. It opened a second location in September 2022 at 7420 W. Newberry Road.
