Patriots New Recruiter: Mack Wilson Targets DeAndre Hopkins
The New England Patriots already have a recruiter-in-chief in outside linebacker/edge rusher Matthew Judon, and now can add another with inside linebacker Mack Wilson.
Wilson took to Twitter twice on Thursday evening to give his pitch to two of the top trade targets. "What we doing [DeAndre Hopkins]," Wilson asked in a tweet mentioning the Arizona Cardinals receiver.
Then seven minutes later, Wilson fired off a tweet mentioning Jerry Jeudy. "Aye lil bro [Jeudy], you'll look good in that [Patriots] blue, red & white!"
A trade with the Denver Broncos for Jeudy would reunite him with Wilson and Mac Jones, all of whom were teammates at Alabama.
Jeudy would give Jones a familiar target out wide, who built chemistry together in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide product is coming off a career year, recording 972 yards and six touchdowns on 67 receptions, in an otherwise disastrous year for the Broncos offense.
While Hopkins wouldn't have some pre-existing chemistry with Jones, he would give him a true No. 1 receiver. Even after missing the first six games due to a suspension after testing positive for PEDs, Hopkins went on to a productive season with 717 yards and three touchdowns.
Wilson's latest tweets mentioning potential trade targets came recently after signing a one-year contract with the Patriots. Wilson played in all 17 games for New England in a reserve role, recording 36 total tackles, two for a loss, and 1.5 sacks.
