Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accident:. 11:13 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, East US 30, east of East CR 250S, Pierceton. Drivers: Linda G. Riley, 49, West Bobolink Drive, Mentone; and Roger L. Thews, 64, East Shore Drive, Culver. Riley failed to yield the right of way to Thews’ vehicle, causing a collision. Damage up to $25,000.

Upcoming Changes to Northern Indiana Utility Rates: How They May Affect You
The Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) is asking for public feedback on two proposals from Northern Indiana Public Service Co. (NIPSCO). The first proposal is to build and run a 400-megawatt natural gas power plant near Wheatfield. The estimated cost is about $643.7 million. This new plant would replace part of the coal-fired Schahfer facility, set to retire in 2025. NIPSCO also wants to recover costs as they occur, which may change electric rates every six months. A public hearing is set for Dec. 18 in La Porte. Written comments will be accepted until Dec. 19.
