Harvey Rabbit and Friends Kick Off the Library’s Summer Reading Program
It was a packed house at each of the LaSalle Parish libraries last Friday with the first show of this year’s Summer Reading Program. Throughout the summer, the LaSalle Parish Library will host various events and special guests, at both the Jena and Olla locations, to keep parish children and youth involved with reading.

Boys Will Be Boys
The youngest grandson just ‘lost’ his first tooth; or should I say he knocked out his first tooth. It happened this past weekend while he was visiting his other grands at Toledo Bend. The story went likewise: he was swinging in the hammock and when he tried to remove himself from it, he fell face first and his tooth gave up the ghost. Boys will be boys. The result is one of the cutest kid you ever saw! And I’m not the least bit prejudiced.

The thirteenth annual LaSalle Parish Scholars Reception was held Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Jena, sponsored by The GEO Group and the LaSalle Economic Development District (LEDD). Gilbert passes two ordinances to help prevent teen violence
The Gilbert Town Council unanimously passed a law banning brass and metal knuckles and another ordinance making homeowners or landlords responsible if a party gets out of hand. Both ordinances go into effect in 30 days. The police chief explained that it would be up to the officer's discretion if the ordinance was violated.
