    Topline:

All northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills will be closed for five hours each weeknight starting Wednesday for continuing construction on the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing.

Why it matters: The lanes will close at 12 a.m. Monday through Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. the next morning. Except on Saturdays, when they’re expected to reopen a bit later.

Why now: Crews will be placing girders, which are 103-foot-long boxes of reinforced concrete, to support the crossing’s horizontal reach over the northbound side.

The backstory: The southbound lanes were closed overnight for several weeks last month as crews installed 41 of the 82 total girders across that half of the freeway.

What's next: This construction is expected to wrap up by mid-May, according to the city of Agoura Hills.
