United Way announces investment of $690,000 in 26 local agencies
QUINCY – United Way of Adams County will invest $690,000 in 26 local partner agency programs aimed at improving education, health and financial stability in Adams County. The grants were announced as part of the United Way Partner Award Breakfast held Friday at the Salvation Army Kroc Center Meadows Room.
Nancy Bluhm, executive director of United Way of Adams County, said the community is experiencing an unprecedented level of need. She said the grants are possible through the support and generosity of thousands of peopkle, as well as more than 100 area companies and businesses who invest in United Way each year.
Resource allocations were determined by a 37-member panel of United Way community volunteers who dedicated more than 400 hours to reviewing agency documentation, assessing alignment with community needs and evaluating factors like duplication of services and agency collaboration. Partner agencies are required to reapply for funding each year.
“Just the opportunity to gather together in person is significant,” Natalie Cornwell, director of community impact and investment, said in a press release. “For the last few years, our partners were informed of their funding amounts through email. We wanted to show appreciation for the impact our partners have in the community.”
