Aberdeen police officer injured in head-on collision
An Aberdeen police officer suffered serious injuries after being struck in a head-on collision during the early morning Sunday.
According to police, around 4 a.m., Acting Corporal James Haddix was driving to work in Delaware when a suspected impaired driver struck him head-on on Christina Parkway. The crash left both vehicles destroyed, and officer Haddix suffered severe life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. He remains in serious but stable condition. No update was provided on the other driver.
The Newark (Delaware) Police Department is handling the investigation.
Police there said the impaired driver was Johnathan Hendricks, 24, of Middletown, DE. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Investigation remains ongoing.
