MILLARD COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A man accused of an attempted bank robbery in August and an alleged assault on Saturday was taken to the hospital for burns after a standoff with law enforcement over the weekend, according to the Millard County Sheriff’s Office .
Michael Douglas Hathaway, 43, had multiple warrants out for his arrest from different jurisdictions, and the MCSO said he was a suspect in several incidents in the Delta area.

Curtis with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Hathaway was considered the “prime suspect” in an attempted robbery in Southern Utah, and was arrested Saturday after detectives obtained a warrant.
On Sept. 7, SCSO said Hathaway barricaded himself in a Millard County home and “refused to exit the home.” After he was barricaded in the residence, officials said they obtained a search warrant to enter the home.
MCSO said additional crews were called to the scene after officials noticed a fire in the residence where Hathaway was barricaded.
“The fire is currently under investigation but is believed to have been started by Hathaway,” Curtis said.
Paul Dewsnup and Bethany Wright were close to the situation. Wright lives in a trailer on Dewsnup’s property, and Wright told ABC4.com that Hathaway had been in her home since earlier in the morning.
The pair said the incident caused a lot of damage.
“There once was a structure, and now there’s a shell that kinda resembles what once used to be there,” Dewsnup told ABC4.com.
MCSO said the State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting a separate investigation into the cause of the fire. Hathaway was arrested after he exited the residence, and was taken to the hospital for treatment of his severe burns, according to the sheriff’s office.
Hathaway had a “history of hostile behavior toward law enforcement,” according to the MCSO, which prompted the request for additional help from the Department of Public Safety Special Emergency Response Team. SCSO said the U.S. Marshal’s Office also responded to the situation.
ABC4.com has reached out to Millard County for more details but has yet to hear back.
