After months of speculation, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis finally formally announced he was running for President of the United States. He didn’t make the announcement on TV but he chose to do it on Twitter.
Of course, the site was met with technical glitches as it was overwhelmed by the number of people who joined.
“I am running for president of the United States to lead our great American comeback. But we know our country’s going in the wrong direction. We see it with our own eyes. And we feel it in our bones.”
“My pledge to you is this: If you nominate me you can set your clock to January 20, 2025, at high noon because on the west side of the US Capitol, I will be taking the oath of office as the 47th president of the United States. No excuses, I will get the job done.”
Despite the late start, DeSantis comes in with plenty of cash and more than any other candidate other than former President Donald Trump.
The race for the Republican nominee for President between DeSantis and Trump will be one to watch over the next few months.
According to a Fox News poll, DeSantis is behind Trump by 15 points in a recent poll.
Last night, DeSantis shared key areas he wants to focus on.
"Our border is a disaster. Crime infests our cities. The federal government makes it harder for families to make ends meet. And the president flounders."
Up next for DeSantis is visiting Iowa, South Carolina, and New Hampshire.
