Florida Governor DeSantis Answers the Call to Support Governor Abbott on Border Crisis

Not long after Texas Governor Greg Abbott called for support from fellow Governors and he is already receiving a response. One governor, Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is sending support to help the southern border against illegal aliens to help Governor Abbott.

On Tuesday, Governor Abbott wrote a letter calling for support from U.S. Governors to help him fight the southern border crisis. So far, he received a response from Idaho and Florida.

Florida Governor DeSantis said:

“The impacts of Biden’s Border Crisis are felt by communities across the nation, and the federal government’s abdication of duty undermines the sovereignty of our country and the rule of law.”
“At my direction, state agencies including law enforcement and the Florida National Guard are being deployed to Texas, with assets including personnel, boats, and planes. While Biden ignores the crisis he created, Florida stands ready to help Texas respond to this crisis.”

Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie added:

“We stand with Texas as they work to repel illegal aliens at the border. We are prepared to assist however needed.”

The Florida governor pledged to send support that will be welcomed in Texas.

Governor DeSantis is sending:

  • five fixed-wing aircraft
  • 17 drones
  • 10 boats
  • 800 Florida National Guard members
  • 200 Department of Law Enforcement officers
  • 101 highway patrol officers

Governor DeSantis is expected to make an announcement as he throws his name in as a Republican candidate for President in 2024. This year Governor DeSantis has been on a speaking tour visiting several key states while promoting his book, The Courage to Be Free: Florida's Blueprint for America's Revival.

He will be one of the main challengers against the current candidate former Republican President Donald Trump.
