Governor Greg Abbott Alerted State Agencies to Be Prepared For This Winter Storm

Governor Greg Abbott is trying to be prepared and ahead of the winter weather affecting local Texans. He is trying to avoid the backlash he has faced over the years as ERCOT has left hundreds of people without power.

On January 23, Governor Abbott alerted state agencies again to be prepared for an expected winter freeze coming into North, West, and East Texas. The weather was expected to come in on Monday evening to Tuesday morning.

Governor Abbott said:

“The State of Texas is fully prepared for incoming inclement winter weather and severe storms expected to impact our state in the coming days. As we continue to closely monitor the weather, state and local emergency response personnel stand ready to protect our communities over the course of these storms. Texans are urged to remain weather-aware and heed the guidance of their local emergency response personnel to keep themselves, their loved ones, and their property safe.”

Dallas is expecting heavy rain showers on Tuesday with some light showers in the evening. The temperatures will reach a high of 45 today.

The Texas Governor is trying his best to avoid a backlash after the winter storm of 2021 that left people without power and ended up killing 246 people who froze to death. The governor has been working with ERCOT to ensure Texans have the power to stay warm.

Earlier this month, Governor Abbott alerted State agencies to be prepared for this year’s winter weather. Abbott is trying to be proactive rather than reactive in dealing with Texas weather.
