Bizarre Shoplifting Incident: California Woman Demands Lost Phone Moments After Alleged Theft

In an ironic twist of events, a woman who is suspected of shoplifting from a California nail supply store found herself back at the scene minutes later – not to return stolen items, but to retrieve her accidentally dropped cellphone. The incident, which took place at Premier Nail Supply in Murrieta on September 19, was captured by the store’s surveillance cameras. This footage was subsequently shared with local media, including FOX 11 Los Angeles.

According to Murrieta police, the dropped phone wasn’t just any ordinary device; it contained the woman’s California driver’s license and a credit card within its case. The store owner, aiming for a peaceful resolution, proposed to return the phone in exchange for the stolen merchandise. However, the situation escalated when the suspect allegedly attacked the owner before fleeing the store for the second time.

The initial theft, involving merchandise worth approximately $600 – ironically a sum less than the value of the lost phone – escalated to a robbery charge due to the alleged assault. This attack resulted in the store owner experiencing minor injuries after reportedly being thrown to the ground.

The suspects, later identified by authorities as Kaydrianna Hall, 24, and Serenadi Banks, 19, were spotted departing the scene in a black car. However, their escape was short-lived. Police approached them mere minutes later, finding them sitting in their car, a mere mile from the crime scene. Allegedly, the stolen items were clearly visible inside their vehicle. Both Hall and Banks were promptly arrested and taken into custody.

Both women have since been released after posting a bail amount of $5,000 each.

In a somewhat humorous reflection on the incident, Murrieta police commented on Facebook: “It certainly would've been simpler to just purchase the products using the credit card inside the phone case.”

This unusual case serves as a reminder that sometimes, decisions made in the heat of the moment can lead to unforeseen consequences.
