At 8 pm on Monday a missing 15-year-old hiker returned home after being missing for over seven hours.
The incident of the missing hiker was reported earlier that evening at Weidlake Dr & Montlake Dr. The boy was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue jeans.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department's official Twitter, LAFD, firefighters and air units were searching for a 15-year-old hiker who went missing around the Hollywood Reservoir.
A helicopter was sent to search the vicinity around the Hollywood Reservoir.
Firefighters at first reported they had not spotted anyone matching the description of the missing hiker on the trail.
The hiker was last seen around 1:55 pm.
Police were notified the hiker may have been heading toward Griffith Park and then Burbank. They used helicopters to search the trails.
The boy was also wearing a mask and sunglasses. He was heading toward the Hollywood sign and then Burbank.
Firefighters said they would search for the missing hiker until sunset, then they would request LAPD to aid in the search. Park rangers helped with the search as well.
At 8 pm, firefighters called off the search and reported to Park Rangers that the boy had returned home.
Further information on the circumstances around this incident are unknown.
