Denver International Airport ranks among the top 10 airports in the world, according to cabincrewhq.com. But the airport has the lowest on-time ranking in the group. The aviation expert website assessed airports both in passenger experience and facilities, according to the website.

Cabincrewhq.com evaluated major airports worldwide using six criteria, assigning a score of 100 for each criterion. These individual scores were then combined and weighted to generate a final score out of 100. The data was sourced from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and The Official Aviation Guide of the Airways.

Denver finished eighth on the list with a score of 66.29. Tokyo International (Haneda) Airport ranked first, with a score of 80. “It has an impressive on-time flight average of 88.4% and the highest number of restaurants and shops among the top 10 airports,” Cabincrewhq.com reported about Tokyo’s airport.

American airports rounding out the list included Atlanta Hartsfield, second place; O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, third place; Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, fifth place; George Bush International Airport, sixth place; and Charlotte Douglas International Airport, tenth place.

For Atlanta, Cabincrewhq.com declared, “Despite having the highest passenger count on the list, its average on-time flights are slightly lower than Tokyo's at 78.4%.”

Seattle only U.S. airport to rank for on-time flights

The only U.S. airport to rank in the top five airports for on-time flights was Seattle-Tacoma. Charlotte Douglas and Miami international airports finished in the top five airports for cheapest parking. Hartsfield-Atlanta made the top five airports with the most restaurants list at 159. John F. Kennedy and Newark international airports also made the list with 139 and 128 restaurants, respectively.

“The study provides a clear view of how airports worldwide perform regarding passenger experience and what they offer travelers,” according to the news release. “ It's a valuable guide to understanding the facilities and services available at these airports.”

Denver International Airport has made headlines in recent weeks for long lines, flight cancellations, and other irritants. Being designated the eighth most noteworthy airport in the world at a time when the terminal is being renovated makes the honor even more surprising.
