21 of the Absolute Best Sub Shops in Upstate New York!
I have a long history with the submarine sandwich!. I attended college in Albany beginning in1967. My dad, who owned a small grocery store in rural Delaware County, would come to visit me. We would go out to lunch, and one of our favorite places was Mike's Submarine and Neba Roast Beef at the corner of Central Avenue and Western Avenue. My dad was mesmerized by this fast paced restaurant. He eventually took the sub sandwich idea back to his store and started making them for his grocery customers. It was a huge success. After college, I returned to my small hometown and managed my father's business, including the sub sandwich business. It was amazing,. And new. Our grocery market became the first sub shop in the entire county!
