Believe it or not, the Indiana Pacers open the preseason in three weeks. Time is flying by and before you know it, the NBA season will be upon us. It helps that the Pacers are coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, making the gap between seasons less than it has been recently. On top of that, you had the Paris Olympics, which saw Tyrese Haliburton and Team USA winning the gold medal.

It’s been a busy off-season for the Pacers. On top of Haliburton’s summer in Paris, the team re-signed Pascal Siakam, Andrew Nembhard, Obi Toppin, T.J. McConnell and James Johnson while signing James Wiseman. The Pacers look like they’ll go with cohesion and build off of last season’s success with a fully healthy Bennedict Mathurin and hoping guys like Jarace Walker take the next step in their development.
On Tuesday, head coach Rick Carlisle joined us and discussed the team coming off of their Eastern Conference Finals appearance, expectations for some key players and a whole lot more.
It’s important we don’t get intoxicated with a little bit of success last year. We were opportunistic. The ultimate goal wasn’t reach and that ultimate goal is to win a championship. – Rick Carlisle on the Pacers not resting on their laurels from last season
Other topics of conversation were Jarace Walker’s position change, Bennedict Mathurin’s role with the team, the success of the Indiana Fever and Caitlin Clark and the best thing he did on summer vacation, which involves cheap beer, a fraternity and animals.
