What Are Colts Getting In Rookie WR Adonai Mitchell?

The Colts selected Texas WR Adonai Mitchell with the 52nd overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.  The Colts’ coaching staff has raved about Mitchell’s motor, mechanics and ability to process things quickly.  So then, why did he slide all the way to the 52nd pick?  That’s where heresy and rumors come into play.

Mitchell was the focus of post NFL Combine evaluations saying he was a poor interviewer, or showed character concerns if his blood sugar was low (Mitchell is a Type-1 diabetic).  Both “red flags” seem to be completely false, according to one of Mitchell’s coaches at Texas.  Longhorns Passing Game Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach Chris Jackson joined the show late last week and called those reports “completely unfair”.
