Investigation into missing PTA funds leads to Staunton School Board chair resigning position
STAUNTON — Natasha McCurdy has resigned as chair of the Staunton School Board, effective April 30. The board held a called meeting Wednesday and unanimously accepted McCurdy's resignation. The vote was 4-0. McCurdy wasn't in attendance. Neither was Fontella Brown-Bundy, who has been absent from school board meetings since January due to a health issue.

VDCR offering sessions on nutrient management in June
WEYERS CAVE, Va. (WFXR)—The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (VDCR) will offer a two-part agricultural nutrient management training program in June. Nutrient management plans are an important part of a farmer’s decision-making process when deciding on materials to supply nutrients to crops and forages. These plans determine rates for applying manure, fertilizers, biosolids, and other soil products to ensure that yields are maximized and nutrient loss to ground and water is minimized.
Virginia drivers will learn to zipper merge in work zones on I-81 starting May 13
The Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton District is launching a pilot program about zipper merges in work zones. With a zipper merge, traffic entering an active work zone uses both travel lanes up to the single lane closure and then takes turns operating like two sides of a zipper at the merge point to form a single lane, traveling past the work zone.

New housing development may be coming to Waynesboro
WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) - A new housing development could be coming to Waynesboro. The proposed project is called Smith Farm Planned Unit Development and consists of about 147 acres, located north of Village Apartments at Hopeman Parkway. The development would have residential housing with the possibility of limited commercial space.
