Ladies nab first conference win
The Lady Dogie Soccer team wrapped up a strong week of conference play, routing the Torrington Trailblazers 3-0 on Thursday, then pushing the Lady Bison of Buffalo to an overtime shootout where they narrowly missed the victory in sudden death on Saturday. Head coach Cami Willyard was pleased with the growth her young team has shown throughout the season and is looking forward to seeing them progress even more in the coming weeks.

School district locked in funding ‘error’ battle
LaCroix: Consistent, reliable means of funding public education is missing. Weston County School District No. 1 and the Wyoming Department of Education administrators are scuffling over nearly $200,000 in funding, and Megan Degenfelder, the state’s superintendent of public instruction, and Weston County School District No. 1 board members will meet in a public session at 6 p.m. on May 6 to discuss budgetary matters, Board Chair Dana Mann-Tavegia said in an email on April 15.
Sophie Louderback of Upton Signs for Track at Black Hills State
Upton senior Sophie Louderback will continue her track and field career in college after committing to Black Hills State University. Louderback was the Class 1A state champion in the long jump in 2023. She jumped a personal best 17-8 to win the title last spring. Louderback also placed second in the 1A triple jump with a PR of 35-1.25. She added two third-place finishes in the 100 and 200 meters.

Upton senior Ethan Schiller has signed at Dickson State University for track and field. Schiller is the reigning Class 1A triple jump state champion. He jumped 43-10.25 at the state championships last year for the title and won by over two feet. Schiller also competed in the high jump and on Upton’s 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.
