USTF celebrates 80th anniversary of WWII battle
MEXICO, Mo. — The United States Exercise Tiger Foundation celebrated the 80th anniversary of the 1944 Battle of Exercise Tiger on Sunday. More than 749 U.S. soldiers and sailors were killed in this battle, 201 of whom were from Missouri’s 3206th Quartermaster Service Company, according to the foundation. Exercise Tiger was a top-secret training exercise that happened during the last week of April 1944. It turned into real combat when German Navy “E” boats attacked a U.S. Navy Convoy.
Teen hurt in crash on Missouri 124 in Boone County
A 16-year-old Hallsville teen was hurt in a crash Thursday night in Boone County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online crash report states that the crash happened on Missouri 124 at Route U at 10:50 pm. The report states that the teen was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound.
