Hail, trees down, power outages in central NC as tornado warnings and severe weather hits
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Damage was seen in central North Carolina on Memorial Day as severe storms triggered tornado warnings and a tornado watch. A couple of storms moved through Monday morning but the most serious severe weather began after 3 p.m., leading to hail, torrential rains and downed trees with power outages.
Truck drives into building in Scotland Neck; driver okay, police say
A truck drove into a building on Monday in Scotland Neck. According to the Scotland Neck Police Department, the crash happened around 10:38 p.m. at the NC 125 and Grasunan Road intersection. Officers located the truck inside a building near the intersection when they arrived. The driver was not injured.

2 Brunswick Academy athletes sign to play college football
Brunswick Academy has two young gentlemen that will be furthering their education and football career at the next level. On April 30th, Jerry Powell, Jr (JP) son of Crystal Powell and Jerry Powell, Sr of Emporia, VA signed his letter of intent to further his education and play NCAA Division lll football at Roanoke College in Salem, VA. JP won several accolades during his time at Brunswick Academy. He won the VISFL first team all state defensive back and running back for 2022 and 2023. He was also named the VISFL 2023 Player of the Year and his team won the VISFL Division ll State Championship in 2022 and 2023.
