Man takes plea deal for trying to kill an El Paso County deputy
EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A man was sentenced for trying to kill an El Paso County Deputy. The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office shared details of the sentencing with the public on Wednesday, the sentence was handed out on April 23 as part of a plea deal. Wesley Braden was sentenced to 35 years in prison for criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, criminal attempt to commit aggravated robbery and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. The sentencing is tied to an incident that happened in July of 2023 in the area of Colorado Avenue and Ridge Road west of Colorado Springs. The Manitou Springs Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle just after midnight on July 11. The driver was identified as Braden, a habitual offender who was wanted at the time for several serious charges including attempted murder. Braden was out on bond.
