A Pleasanton man on parole, who allegedly charged at a Pleasanton Police Officer with a hammer, was handed a 32-year sentence by District Judge Jennifer Dillingham last week. When he made his appearance in Dillingham’s court, Gregory Anthony Mendez, 38, faced charges of aggravated assault against a public servant and injury to a child/elderly/ disabled with intent to cause bodily injury.

I hope you are all having a great week. In May I will have collectively served 13 years on the Pleasanton City Council. In 2008 I was appointed as council member for District 3. In May 2011 I was appointed mayor. To put it in perspective, when I first started serving on tha council my son was eight and my daughter was five. my son is now 24 and daughter is 21. Being on the city council has been an eyeopening experience. It has been an education to say the least.

Foreign Exchange Students take part in traditional strawberry picking
Spring time in South Texas and Atascosa County brings fields of bright wildflowers. It also brings a much-beloved crop– strawberries!. On March 22, Foreign Exchange Students attending Pleasanton High School visited S & G Farms in Pleasanton for some strawberry picking. The students are: Allan Karatsev of Tajikistan, Akihiro Shi of Japan, Iulian Plop of Moldova, Nursultan Temirbekov of Kyrgyzstan, Heloisa Torres of Brazil, Pitinat “Poy” Molwaibud of Thailand, Alexia Allion of France and Ana Caballero Mojarro of Spain. The students represent two different agencies, FLAG and ASSE.
