Fili’s Pizza avoids potential loss of liquor license
Fili’s Pizza, one of two restaurants in Bethel licensed to sell alcohol, has successfully avoided having that license protested by the city. The owners of the popular establishment told the Bethel City Council on April 23 that they have already taken serious steps to steer clear of future violations.
Spring storm nearly breaks 45-year record for wind gust speed in Bethel
At around 10 p.m. on April 15, Bethel’s airport weather station recorded a blistering peak wind speed of 68 miles per hour. “That for any time of the year is strong, much less for a non-winter month,” said University of Alaska Fairbanks climatologist Rick Thoman. In fact, Thoman said it’s the highest wind gust speed recorded in Bethel in a non-winter month since data started being recorded 45 years ago.
