LHSAA softball playoffs: Montgomery wins Division IV Non-Select Championship
SULPHUR, La. (KALB) - The Montgomery Tigers claimed the 2024 Division IV Non-Select State Champions after their 5-4 win on Saturday, April 27. After entering into the tournament with a first-round bye as the #3 seed, the Tigers cruised into Sulphur for a semi-finals match against a fellow Cenla team, Oakdale. The Tigers clutched out the 8-7 victory on Friday and faced French Settlement in Saturday’s final match.
‘Love the Boot’ campaign
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - The South Alexandria Revitalization Committee took part in the statewide, ‘Love the Boot Campaign’. The group met up early on Saturday, April 27, in the Sonia Quarters and cleaned up different areas in the neighborhood. The campaign is a statewide effort that aims to tackle the littering problem that exists in the state.
Gumbs sets shot put school record on final day of Corky/Crofoot Shootout
LUBBOCK, TX. (NSU) - Any time an athlete accomplishes a feat that has not happened at Northwestern State since 1982, you know it is a major achievement. NSU thrower Djimon Gumbs did just that, breaking the NSU record in the men’s shot put on the second and final day of the Corky/Crofoot Shootout on Saturday on the campus of Texas Tech.

Title-game MVP Taylor Gongre’s triple brought in the winning run as third-seeded Montgomery came away with a 5-4 victory over in a Division IV nonselect title-game rematch on Saturday at Frasch Park.
