Judge in Huizar rape case announces retirement
RICHLAND- Judge Sam Swanberg has announced that he has resigned his position effective May 17, in relation to a domestic assault charge for which he was acquitted. Judge Swanberg had recently adjudicated the Elias Huizar child rape case, presiding over Huizar’s arraignment and omnibus hearings. Huizar shot himself dead earlier this week after kidnapping his one year old son following a double murder in Richland.
