Cricket treatment planning underway for Northern Nevada
The Nevada Department of Agriculture encourages the public to report cricket sightings to aid in population tracking and treatment planning. As of April 18, 220 reports were received from Washoe, Pershing, Churchill, Humboldt, Lander, Eureka, White Pine and Elko counties. Based on reported sightings and surveying of the area in 2023 and 2024, the NDA has submitted a proposal to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Plant Protection and Quarantine to protect 222,254 acres by aerial treatments.
Oasis Academy Baseball
The night started out with the Oasis Academy Softball team singing the National Anthem. Once the game got going, it did not start off well for the Bighorns, going down four runs by the end of the third inning. They managed to get a run on the board in the fourth inning, but then gave up two runs to start the fifth inning. Before Oasis batted in the bottom of the fifth inning, their coach gathered the team up and inspired the Bighorns to score four runs in the fifth.

Oasis roundup: Bighorns keep winning on the diamond
The Bighorns softball and baseball teams extended their winning streaks last week just in time for two pivotal series against Yerington and Pershing County. The Oasis Academy softball team (12-0, 8-0 2A North) stayed perfect on the season after 19-4 and 17-0 wins over Silver Stage on Friday in Fallon, while the baseball team (10-1, 2A North) extended its winning streak to 10 after sweeping Silver Stage, 8-2 and 14-3, on Friday in Fallon.
