HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - From pea size to grapefruit, hail comes in different shapes and sizes. But have you ever wondered how forecasters anticipate the potential size of hail before it ever falls? One of the tools that meteorologists use is the Skew-T chart from forecast models. This gives forecasters an idea of what will take place above the ground at a location or across a general area. A Skew-T like the one I took of the McCook area for 6pm this evening, offers detailed information for forecasters in order to predict how large hail potentially could be during a severe weather event.
