SUMTER, S.C. — A Memorial Day morning shooting has left one person dead and another wounded near downtown Sumter, SC. Sumter Police (SPD) responded to a call of shots fired at the intersection of Green Swamp Road and South Guignard Drive around 7:30 a.m. According to initial information supplied by SPD, the victim's car was stopped at the traffic light on Green Swamp Road when a white sedan drove up alongside it and fired a gun before speeding away.

Highway Patrol investigating after off-duty SC deputies hurt in Memorial Day weekend crash
CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say two deputies were injured on Sunday afternoon following an off-duty crash near Turbeville. According to Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley, the crash happened around 6 p.m. on Highway 378 east of Turbeville. Baxley said two of his deputies were traveling in their personal car when they were hit by another vehicle.
