A major car wreck in Burnet County claimed the lives of two individuals and forced State Highway 71 to close in both directions on Thursday, authorities confirmed. The fatal incident occurred near the intersection of SH 71 and County Road 401 in Marble Falls, as reported by CBS Austin. Responding to the scene were Burnet County ESD 9 Spicewood Fire Rescue and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

As of Tuesday, May 14, Lake Buchanan has risen over 8 feet since April 30, the biggest month-to-month increase for the Highland Lakes reservoir since 2007.
