Highway 515 intersections dangerous, safety measures needed
Last week we reported a dangerous crash involving a charter bus full of Dekalb County students near the RaceTrac on Highway 515. The driver of the car that turned left in front of the bus suffered serious injuries, and the bus driver and a student were also transported to the hospital. Several other students reported a lesser degree of injuries.

BRASSTOWN, NC-As the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series presented by Coltman Farms Racing and fueled by Sunoco season heads down the homestretch, the miniseries will invade the Peach State for a pair of pivotal point races over the May 3-4 weekend. Up first will be a stop at Sugar Creek Raceway, as the tour makes its inaugural visit to the Blue Ridge, Georgia oval this Friday night for a $7,553 to win showdown. The doubleheader weekend will then conclude in a big way on Saturday evening at the historic Dixie Speedway with a $10,053 top prize up for grabs at the Woodstock, Georgia venue.
PHS Baseball Sweeps Adairsville in state playoffs
The Pickens Baseball team wrapped up its regular season and entered the GHSA state playoffs on Monday night with a thrilling doubleheader sweep of Adairsville by the scores of 10-2 and 5- 4 in eight innings to advance to this week’s second round. The Dragons moved their record to 27-5 on the year with the victories and continued their magical two-season run of two consecutive region titles along with three straight appearances in the Sweet 16 dating back to 2022.
