City of El Dorado host Mac and Cheese Cook Off, applications still open
EL DORADO, Ark. (KTVE/KARD) — The El Dorado Chamber of Commerce announced that there is still time to enter the annual Mac and Cheese Cook Off on May 4, 2024. There is a $20 entry fee, one free apron will be provided with each entry. To enter, scan the barcode provided or CLICK HERE.
Arkansas State Police Foundation holds golf tournament
El Dorado Ark. (KTVE/KARD) — The Arkansas State Police Foundation held their golf tournament at Mystic Creek Golf Club on Friday. There were over 200 golfers who participated in the four man scramble. The golf tournament proceeds will go towards their scholarship fund. The scholarship goes to helping pay for proper training of an officer before they hit the roads.

Hermitage student Cristobal Guerrero crowned 2024 Skills USA State Champion
HERMITAGE, Ark. – Hermitage High School proudly honors Cristobal Guerrero as the 2024 Skills USA State Champion for Carpentry Display. Guerrero’s victory secured him a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton. This achievement reflects Guerrero’s exceptional talent and dedication, earning him recognition and support from his school community. Genesis Garay to attend Duke University for masters degree
Genesis Garay, of Hermitage, recently was accepted into the masters program at Duke University to obtain her masters in Biomedical Engineering. Garay applied to 5 different masters programs, including Johns Hopkins, Rice, Boston University, and Georgia Tech. She was accepted into all five, but has chosen to attend Duke. She is the daughter of Jose Garay and Ela Ramirez of Hermitage. Genesis is a graduate of Hermitage High School and Arkansas Tech University.
Hermitage sewer project in danger of being shut down
The city of Hermitage held its monthly city council meeting on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Mayor Matt Cathey opened the meeting by asking Police Chief Ben Poole to present the police report. Poole reported that there were 15 citations for speeding, four citations for no proof of insurance, three citations for driving on suspended license, one citation for running a stop sign, one citation for no driver’s license, one citation for battery in the third degree, one citation for reckless driving, one citation for criminal mischief, and two citations for expired tags. A motion was made and approved to accept the police report. All were in favor.
