SE Kansas deputy recognized for saving baby’s life
COFFEYVILLE, Kan. (KWCH) - A Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy is being recognized for helping save a baby’s life. The sheriff’s office said around 8:55 p.m. on March 26, 2024, Deputy Quinton Sumpter was on patrol in Coffeyville, Kansas, when he saw a vehicle speeding on Buckeye Street near 6th Street. Subsequently, Deputy Sumpter pulled over the vehicle. He exited his patrol car and heard a woman inside the other vehicle screaming for help. She said her baby wasn’t breathing.
