Southern Idaho Company Fined For Polluting Paradise Creek In Moscow
A Southern Idaho company has been fined by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality for polluting Paradise Creek in Moscow. The Track Doctor based in Meridian has been fined 7,600 dollars. The company was hired by the Moscow School District last June to resurface the track at the middle school. An employee illegally dumped 55 gallons of Plexitrac Binder Neutral into a storm drain that flows into the creek. That employee has been fired by the company and the Track Doctor has paid the fine.

Judge OKs phone surveys of jury pool for man charged in 4 University of Idaho student deaths. A judge says defense attorneys for a man charged in the deaths of four University of Idaho students can resume phone surveys of potential jurors in the case. Bryan Kohberger faces murder charges in connection with the November 2022 stabbing deaths of Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves. Kohberger’s defense team hired a consultant to survey potential jurors living near the university about things they might have seen, heard or read about the case. Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said the survey could prejudice the jury pool. The judge ruled Friday the surveys could continue because they include things already in the public record.
Moriera to take over women’s hoops
The women’s basketball program is currently being run by associate head coach Arthur Moreira, according to University of Idaho Athletics. Jerek Wolcott, UI Athletics spokesperson, confirmed Tuesday Moreira will fill in for the time being since he is now the senior coach on staff after the announcement that former coach Carrie Eighmey is leaving UI to take the head coaching job at the University of South Dakota.

UI Looking To Expand Campus Housing To Accommodate Growing Student Population
The University of Idaho wants to speed up a project to increase campus housing to accommodate the institution’s growing student population. The administration will be asking the Idaho State Board of Education to begin the project during a special meeting Thursday morning. The total 194 million dollar project will increase campus beds by 150. The work will involve improvements and expansions for the Wallace Complex, Theophilus Tower and the Elmwood Apartments. The project would construct new undergraduate apartments and improve existing graduate student and married student family housing. The expansion will allow the UI to end its lease of an off-campus motel that’s currently housing up to 200 students. The work is scheduled to be completed by December of 2027.

33 Year Old Yakima Man Sent To Prison For Leading Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies On Car Chase
COLFAX - The 33-year-old Yakima man accused of leading Whitman County Sheriff’s Deputies on a car chase in a stolen car with a loaded handgun and drugs is going to prison. Christopher Cornelius pleaded guilty to felony eluding and unlawful possession of a firearm in Whitman County Superior Court on Friday morning. Judge Gary Libey sentenced Cornelius to a year in prison. Judge Libey agreed with the recommended sentence from both the defense and the prosecution. Prosecutor Denis Tracy recommended a sentence at the low end of the standard range because Cornelius was not fighting the case and agreed to the quick resolution.
