Two injured in crash involving Columbus police cruiser

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – Two people, including one Columbus police officer, were injured in a crash involving a police cruiser Thursday afternoon.

Around 2:53 p.m., a crash occurred involving a police cruiser near the intersection of Joyce Avenue and East Fifth Avenue in the Devon Triangle neighborhood, according to the Columbus Division of Police.

There, a 2017 Kia Sorento was traveling east on East Fifth Avenue attempting to turn left onto Joyce Ave. At the same time a CPD cruiser was traveling in the opposite direction and struck the Kia.

A police officer was transported to Grant Medical Center in stable condition while the driver was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
