Van catches fire in Burger King drive-thru

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Fire Department extinguished a van that caught fire Tuesday afternoon in the drive-thru at Burger King, 1748 East Isaacs Avenue.

Firefighters were dispatched at 2:44 p.m., then additional resources were called in after initial responders reported the vehicle was fully involved and approximately 10 feet from the drive-thru window.

A fire extinguisher was used but was unsuccessful. When firefighters arrived, they immediately went to work to put the fire out and make sure the fire did not extend into Burger King. The fire was brought under control at 2:55 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined but appeared to have started in the engine compartment. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $8,000, along with $5,000 in damage estimated to the exterior of Burger King.
