Fire breaks out on second floor of home on Van Vorst Street in south Utica

UTICA, N.Y. – A fire broke out at a home on Van Vorst Street in south Utica just after 3 p.m. on Friday.

When crews arrived they found fire and smoke coming from the back of the home. One person was at the residence at the time and according to Utica Fire Chief Scott Ingersoll, that person made it out safely.

The fire was confined to two rooms on the first floor with fire extension into the second floor walls and attic.

Four people are being helped by the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Utica Fire Marshal’s Office.
