Police say it appears a medical issue is to blame for a chain reaction crash in Standish Thursday night.
Police say a man from the town of Denmark was headed south on Route 35 just before 6 p.m. when he crossed the center line and hit the side mirror of an oncoming car before sideswiping a Jeep.
The crash sent the jeep into a telephone pole. The pole broke in half, and the Jeep rolled over, trapping the driver inside.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to Maine Medical Center with what police said were serious injuries.
The driver of the car that crossed into traffic was also taken to the hospital to be checked out but did not appear to have serious injuries.
Police said it appeared the driver suffered some sort of medical issue that incapacitated him.
The road was closed for a couple of hours while police investigated and Central Maine Power replaced the pole.
