SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Shreveport Fire Department and the Signal 51 Group responded to a major fire in Shreveport just before 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, involving dozens of cars.

Crews responded to a call about numerous cars on fire at an auto storage facility in the 5200 block of Greenwood Road. The facility, Copart, stores around 3,000 wrecked cars, most of which are marked to be sold for salvage.

The Shreveport Fire Department says it took crews more than three hours to get the fire under control.

The Signal 51 Group responded to help support firefighters by providing water and snacks.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. No injuries were reported. Signal 51 Group says around 50 cars burned.
