KAWKAWLIN, MI — A Romeo man died on a highway in Bay County over the weekend, the victim of an apparent medical event.

About 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, Michigan State Police troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 75 near Beaver Road in Kawkawlin Township.

A 71-year-old man from Romeo was driving a 2007 F-150 pickup truck. Investigators believe he suffered a medical emergency and lost control of his truck as he passed a 2014 Ford F-250 truck.

The F-150 struck the F-250 and left the roadway, only to crash into a tree.

Responders pronounced the Romeo man deceased at the scene. He had no passengers.

The F-250′s driver, a 48-year-old Fowlerville man, was uninjured.

Police did not disclose the deceased man’s name.
