Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Police Department is reporting the discovery of a deceased woman in a retention pond.

A news release says officers responded to a report of a submerged vehicle and a pond next to the Rochester Ready-Mix cement plant in the 4000 block of 19th Street Northwest this afternoon. The property is located just southwest of the Hollywood 12 movie theatre complex.

A spokesperson says it appears the vehicle had been in the pond for a lengthy time and it only became visible because the water level has dropped due to the dry conditions.

The remains of a woman were found inside the vehicle. The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiners Office is currently working to identify the woman and determine the cause of her death.
